This Sony press release announces that the company has started shipping its newest Blu-Ray stand alone player to customers. The BDP-S300 was originally going to be priced at $599 but in a bit of a surprise Sony announced that the new Blu-Ray player will now be priced at $499, making the model the first stand alone Blu-Ray player to be priced cheaper than the former price champion the Playstation 3. The sudden price decrease of the BDP-S300 player has many on the Internet speculating that Sony might be thinking about a price drop for the PS3 later this year.
